Eng. Carlos Mineiro has been appointed President Elect on September 18th, 2015. He will take over the presidency of the World Council of Civil Engineers (WCCE) during its 13th General Assembly to be held in 2018. Mr. Mineiros, a worldwide recognized engineering professional from Portugal will serve a three year term for the period 2019-2022. Carlos Mineiro will suceed mexican engineer Alfonso GonzΓ‘lez.

He currently holds the office ofΒ Southern Region'sΒ Bastonario from Ordem dos Engenheiros from Portugal.Β Its areas of hydraulic engineering expertise is specifically in water supply and sanitation. Born in Abrantes (Portugal), 64 years old, and civil engineer with a brilliant academic record culminated in his studies of Civil Engineering at the Instituto Superior TΓ©cnico (IST), Lisbon 1975.

Currently, he performs as senior engineer in the Portuguese Environment Agency. He is considered an expert in the management of civil engineering projects of all kinds.

He was elected President of the Portugal WaterΒ Institute from 1999 to 2002 and chaired the Lisbon Metro Authority from 2003 to 2006, among other relevant offices.

He has participated in numerous conferences and symposia, both Portuguese and international, and has also published numerous books and technical articles.

The engineer Carlos Mineiro is married and has two daughters.
