30th IEK Engineering Convention

The Institution of Engineers of Kenya in collaboration with the Engineers Board of Kenya will hold itβs 30th annual convention between 14th and 17th November, 2023 at Pride Inn Paradise Beach Resort Convention Centre and Spa in Mombasa. The theme of convention is βEngineering a New Worldβ.
During the same period, Kenya will play host to the 18th World Council of Civil Engineering (WCCE) General Assembly. The World Council of Civil Engineers (WCCE) is a global platform of civil engineering societies, civil engineering-related companies, non-governmental organizations related to civil engineering, academic institutions, and individual professional civil engineers.
In addition to the main Convention, IEK will host the 6th Women Engineers Summit and the 2nd Future leadersβ summit. These summits are important events that help to advance the objectives of IEK, by promoting gender diversity, inclusivity, and the development of the next generation of engineering leaders in Kenya.
The conventions and summits hosted by the IEK provide valuable opportunities for engineers to engage with one another, share knowledge and experiences, and work towards a common goal of promoting engineering excellence and contributing to the development of Kenya and the world at large.
Convention objectives
- To highlight engineersβ achievements and engineering practice in the modern world, as well as to improve the publicβs understanding of how engineering and technology are central to modern life and sustainable development.
- To gain a better understanding of climate change and how engineers can effectively participate in avoiding climate-related threats.
- To present new information on research and innovation.
- Evaluate the status of SDGβs implementation and progress towards achieving key goals and targets.
- Appreciation that Engineers and other scientists are being looked upon to generate impactful sustainable solutions to boost economic recovery.
- Conceptualization of sustainable solutions for economic recovery and prosperity within the broader national agenda.
- Valuable knowledge-sharing and networking among engineers and other professionals in the world of science and technology.
- To develop a direct relationship between WCCE and its member organizations to implement projects that advance the 2030 agenda.
- Platform to nurture and mentor Young Engineers and women engineers.
- To network and develop synergise for collective action on development by engineers and other professionals.
- Host the World Council of Civil Engineers General Assembly.
