The WORLD COUNCIL OF CIVIL ENGINEERS name and logo are the property of the WORLD COUNCIL OF CIVIL ENGINEERS. The power of the logo lies in its consistent, frequent and appropriate use, as a means of disseminating knowledge about our organisation to any person or institution related to or interested in civil engineering or related issues. The WORLD COUNCIL OF CIVIL ENGINEERS logo has specific policies associated with its use. The policies are further described below.
Members of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations Executive Council and the participants of the World Engineers Forum 2012 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, agreed to this Declaration.
“There can be no growth without investment!” These were the words of FIEC Vice-President Jacques Huillard, responsible for economic issues, as he presented FIEC’s annual statistics. He continued “On the contrary, investing in building and infrastructure creates growth and jobs. On this basis, the European construction industry is capable of providing solutions for major global challenges, be it energy efficiency of the built environment, resource efficiency, sustainable infrastructure or adaptation to climate change.”
WCCE 7th General Assembly was held on November 23rd on the occasion of the Civil Engineering International Congress on Climate Change in Monterrey, Mexico. The congress was organized jointly with WCCE's Mexican member, FECIC. Its main keynote speech was addressed by that time WCCE's President Elect, now President Tomás Sancho. The topic of his presentation was the present challenges that climate change has brought up to water engineering.
Dr. Tomás Sancho has assumed the presidency of the World Council of Civil Engineers (WCCE) during its 7th General Assembly held in Monterrey, Mexico during the last week of November. Mr. Sancho, a worldwide recognized engineering professional from Spain will serve a three year term for the period 2012-2015. Tomás Sancho is succeeding Emilio Colon, Puerto Rican recognized engineer.
Since WCCE foundation, Sancho has chaired the Committee on Water. His areas of expertise are water resources, water and wastewater management. Civil Engineer (1983). Born in Zaragoza (Spain), age 50 years, holds a brilliant academic record, culminating in his Civil Engineering studies in Madrid obtaining for which he obtained Matrícula de Honor and a special end of studies award. He has also a degree in Law in Law and Business Management (2010).
