WCCE attends UN's First Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals
The first annual Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum) will take place on 6-7 June 2016 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The 2016 STI Forum will address the topic "realizing the potential of science, technology and innovation for all to achieve the sustainable development goals."
WCCE delegation to the Forum comprises our President, Alfonso González and our Communications Director, Ramiro Aurín. The objective of our attendance is to show the commitment of WCCE and its members organizations to UN's Sustainable Development Goals and contribute for its accomplishment.
WCCE attends UN Global Compact's SDG Forum
The SDG Business Forum within UN's High-Level Political Forum, HLPF took place on 19 June 2016 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. SDG Business Forum was co-hosted by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, UN Global Compact, and International Chamber of Commerce, as Chair of the Global Business Alliance for 2030. The SDG Business Forum convened leaders from business and governments, together with heads of UN agencies, key international organizations and civil society groups.

WCCE attends Transparency International Presentation of Ethic Principles for Parliamentary Bodies
Transparency International Spain presentation on Ethics principles for Parliamentary Bodies was held on June 10 on the Center for Constitutional Studies in Madrid. The Ethics principles Charter for Parliamentary Bodies compiles twenty proposals to provide transparency to parliamentary activity for both representatives and lobbies.
WCCE delegation to the the presentation comprised our Executive Director, José Francisco Sáez. The objective of our attendance is to engage further in the activities of Transparency International and their public procurement subcommittee, which is currently addressing the topics of integrity pacts, which resemble Public administration commitments present in Global International Anti-corruption Centre - GIACC's Projects Anti-Corruption System PACS.
WCCE attends the Panamerican Academy of Engineering 15th Anniversary
WCCE President and several other WCCE representatives are presently attending to the Panamerican Engineering Congress 2015 which is taking place in Cancun. Such congress tributes Panamerican Academy of Engineering 15th Anniversary.
The Panamerican Academy of Engineering was founded in Panama City in 2000 under the auspices of UPADI PanAmerican Union of Engineering Organizations.
Several WCCE representatives are members of the body of Academicians. WCCE Past President Emilio Colon currently holds its vice Presidency as well as our Coastal Engineering Standing Comittee Chairman, Mauricio Porraz, and our passed away founding President.
From WCCE we would like to congratulate API and all its academicians and wish them a frutiful future in disseminating the importance of engineering on the Americas.
WCCE - INBO Partnership Agreement
During the last general Assembly of the International Network of Basin Organizations - INBO held in Merida, Mexico from June 1st to June 4th, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the World Council of Civil Engineers - WCCE and the International Network of Basin Organizations.
The general objective of the collaboration among the organizations is to facilitate, in all regions of the world, the emergence of effective and efficient water governance and of sustainable development of water resources, through the implementation of IWRM at basin level, which allows a better taking into account of all needs, including those of ecosystems.
WCCE - IAHR Publishing joint initiative Survey
Dear members,
World Council of Civil Engineers (WCCE) in collaboration with IAHR and Taylor and Francis is conducting a survey using SurveyMonkey to explore launching a new peer-reviewed journal focussed on best practice, case studies and application of research to bridge the gap between academia and the world of practice in the area of water.
You are invited to participate in this research project because of your importance in our Association. If you like we will follow up in a few days with a telephone call to help you to fill the survey on line (20 minutes). In addition to the selected group of people in which you are involved, the survey will be sent to a largest number of contacts -with no telephone follow up.- An Apple ipod plus a free IAHR membership will be raffled among all the respondants the week after the deadline, which is May 25th.
