WCCE's Executive Committee held its 103rd Executive Committee meeting to review and discuss submitted candidacies for the calls to WCCE members which were finalized on May 27th, 2022 :

  • Standing Committees
    • Host country renewal of WCCE’s current Standing Committees
    • Proposals for the Creation of new Standing Committees
  • WCCE Executive Committee Offices or liaisons to other organizations
    • WCCE appointed liaisons to WFEO Standing Committees
    • Continental representative to the Executive Committee on behalf of WCCE's European members

The Executive Committee proposal is to be ratified by WCCE's General Assembly, on the condition that any minor unfulfilled requisites are to be corrected before October 1st, 2022.

Standing Committees

Host country renewal of current Standing Committees

By WCCE’s Bylaws, Standing Committees are to be renewed every few years. During its 16th General Assembly, the General Assembly entitled the Executive Committee to open a call for the renewal of the host country of the following Standing Committees for the period 2023 - 2025.

Argentina

  • SC on Water to be chaired by Ing. Adolfo Guitelman

Puerto Rico

  • SC Construction and Ethics to be chaired by Ing. Emilio Colón

Zimbabwe

  • SC Education & Capacity Development to be chaired by Eng. Martin Manuhwa

No countries were proposed to host the following Standing Committees

  • Natural Disasters
  • Gender Equality
  • Coastal and Oceanic Engineering

Proposals for the Creation of new Standing Committees

By WCCE’s Bylaws, Standing Committees may be created upon the recommendation of the Executive Committee by the General Assembly. In this instance, the Executive Committee is calling for proposals for the creation of new Standing Committees dedicated to subjects that any Member may deem of interest. If the proposal is considered of interest and feasible, the Executive Committee will recommend its creation in the following G.A. Once reviewed the following proposals, the Executive agreed to elevate the creation of the following Standing Committees - SC and Working Groups - WG:

Argentina

  • WG Sustainable Development to be chaired by Ing. Juan Domingo Yacopino 
  • WG Structural Olympics to be chaired by Ing. Raúl Novoa 

Kenya

  • SC Young Professionals to be chaired by Eng. Lilian Mumbua Kilatya

Nigeria

  • SC Circular Economy to be chaired by Eng. Aishatu Umar
  • WG Transportation Infrastructure to be chaired by Eng. Joseph Olatunde Akinteye 

Officers

WCCE appointed liaisons to WFEO Standing Committees

In July 2020, WFEO requested all its member organizations to designate delegates, no more than two per committee, for all operating committees and working groups. During WCCE’s 15th General Assembly some liaisons were appointed.

However, due to the withdrawal of some appointees, several appointments became vacant. On such grounds, the General Assembly entitled the Executive Committee to open a new call for candidacies for such vacancies (in parenthesis). The submitted candidacies were all approved pending their final ratification during WCCE's next General Assembly

  • Engineering and the Environment (1) - Jeannette Muñoz Abella
  • Young Engineers / Future Leaders (1) - Lilian Mumbua Kilatya
  • Engineering for Innovative Technologies (2) - Iuri Svanidze
  • Working Group on Infrastructure Report Card (2) - Andreas Brandtner 
  • Working Group on Water (2) - Adolfo Guitelman

Continental Representative to the Executive Committee on behalf of European countries

Once elected the Continental Representatives of Africa, America, and Asia during WCCE's 16th General Assembly, the office of Continental Representatives of Europe to the World Council of Civil Engineers’ Executive Committee remains vacant. On such grounds, the General Assembly entitled the Executive Committee to open a new call for candidacies for the office of Continental Representatives of Europe to the World Council of Civil Engineers’ Executive Committee. Finalized the deadline, the only submitted candidacy was the following:

  • Ordem dos Engenheiros de Portugal - Eng. Teresa Maria Soares Costa

On such grounds, Ms. Teresa Maria Soares Costa has been elected Continental Representative to the Executive Committee on behalf of European countries for the period 2022 - 2024.
