Aristodimos (Aris) Chatzidakis, New President of the European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE)
Aris Chatzidakis is the New President of the European Council of Civil Engineers. He took over Presidency of ECCE on 23rd October 2018, during the 68th ECCE General Meeting, that was held in London, UK. Aris Chatzidakis will serve a three year term for the Period 2018 – 2021. Aris Chatzidakis had been appointed ECCE Vice President/ President Elect on 22nd October 2016, during the 64th ECCE General Meeting in Athens, Greece.
Aris Chatzidakis is a Civil Engineer. He graduated, in 1974, from the National Technical University of Athens. During 1975-1976, he attended the post-graduate course (D.E.A.) “Aménagement du Territoire”, at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’ Hydraulique, at the University of Grenoble. He speaks English, and can communicate in French and Italian.
Echoes of the 13th General Assembly of WCCE
WCCE’s 13th General Assembly of the World Council of Civil Engineers was held in Sucre, Bolvia from 19 to 21 september 2018, organized by the Colegio de Ingenieros Civiles de Bolvia - CICB, in parallel with its International Congress in Civil Engineering. The Assembly was welcome by CICB's President Álvaro Chrruarin. Attendance at WCCE activities by WCCE delegates was enriched by the attendance of UPADI's President Mª Teresa Dalenz Zapata. In this Assembly, Portuguese engineer Carlos Mineiro Aires took over the presidency from Mexican Engineer Alfonso González, who becomes immediate Past President. Past President Tomás Sancho joins WCCE's Senior Advisory Board.
Water Monographies IV: Water & Economy
We are proud to introduce the fourth report of our Water monographies series, Water & Economy presented on the occasion of the WFEO's 50th Anniversary Meeting which took place in Paris during the last week of February. This initiative is published in collaboration with UN-Water and AQUAE Foundation and is published in English and Spanish.
2018 Civil Engineering Excellence Awards
WCCE launches its fourth edition of the Civil Engineering Excellence Awards. The first presentation of the Award was made in 2010 during our 5th General Assembly of WCCE. This fourth edition's awarding ceremony will be held during WCCE's 13th General Assembly to be held in Sucre, Bolivia on the last quarter of 2018. Candidacy submissions are open until July 15th.
13th WCCE General Assembly
Summer is coming and the time for WCCE's General Assembly comes nearer. This time WCCE is travelling to America as 13th WCCE's General Assembly will be hosted by the SOCIEDAD DE INGENIEROS DE BOLIVIA, member of the organization. The activities regarding 13th WCCE General Assembly will be held from 19th to 22nd September 2018 in Sucre.
This meeting will be an opportunity to review WCCE's contributions to UNESCO'S II Engineering Report as well as our several partnerships with UN agencies such as UN-Water, UNESCO, UNDSR, etc. Such WCCE contributions will require dissemination and contributions by our member organizations in order to replicate succesfull schemes in the commitment of our profession as a whole on the accomplishment of UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

9th Meeting of the Council of Professional Associations of Civil Engineering of Portuguese and Spanish Speaking Countries, Cancún, Mexico
The 9th Meeting of Professional Associations of Civil Engineering of Portuguese and Spanish Speaking Countries will take place on April 26-27, 2018 at Occidental Xcaret Hotel in Cancún, Mexico. This annual meeting is organized by the Federación de Colegios de Ingeniería Civil de la República Mexicana on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.
WCCE members are encouraged to attend this meeting in order to address several topics to be discussed in this meeting to encourage a common view to be endorsed on a global level by WCCE in its next General Assembly.
