On late September, we were honoured by UN Water to become its partner member. We expect a fruitful collaboration from such partnership and from any other UN Water partners we will contact in UN Water fostered meetings.
On Tuesday, September 26 has been happily opened the supply to rural communities of La Reforma and La Sabana of Botados, and Monte Plata's neighbourhood. All belong to the province of Monte Plata, the second poorest in the Dominican Republic. With regard to water supply, the 2008 Human Development Report of UNDP, puts the province as having greater need for water in households nationally (71%).
The promoter has been the WCCE-World Council of Civil Engineers and the CEZOPAS Implementing Agent (Social Pastoral Zonal Center).
On September 9, 2013 the representatives of seven associations dealing with different aspects of water issues held a meeting in Chengdu, China to discuss ways to collaborate on ways to enhance water security around the world. The seven associations represented in the meeting were:
- International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR)
- International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS)
- International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD)
- International Water Resources Association (IWRA)
- International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID)
- World Association for Sedimentation and Erosion Research (WASER)
At the conclusion of the meeting the Presidents of these seven associations signed a Declaration on Water Security, stating the goals of their collaboration. Those at the meeting agreed to continue collaborating as a working group towards the goals of the pdf Water Security Declaration .
We are proud to introduce the new WCCE initiative, the online Journal of Applied Water Engineering and Research (JAWER) published jointly with the World Council of Civil Engineering (IAHR). Prof. Tobias Bleninger, from the Federal University of Paraná, Brazil is the Editor in Chief.
Free access is available to all articles featured in the first issue of 2013.
This peer-reviewed Journal launched in 2013 publishes papers and practical case studies on all aspects of hydro-environment engineering and research. Practically oriented papers and case studies are particularly welcome.
Proinversión agency will award four major contracts in autumn regarding sanitation and water treatment in the departments of Lima y Libertad. Proinversion Promotion Agency for Private Investment in Peru, expects to award next month from October 3 major contracts for sanitation and wastewater treatment in the department of the nation's capital, Lima.
Furthermore, Proinversión expects to finalize by late November the bidding process of another ambitious project of construction and maintenance in the North of the country, particularly in the department of Libertad: This is the third phase of channel development will lead water from the Santa River to the north of the city of Trujillo, over 250 kilometers.
